Wind Water Paper

Contact and Parallel Currents installation view.

After working together via zoom on several projects throughout the COVID pandemic, Wisconsin-based book artist and master printer Erin McAdams and I were challenged to create a piece for inclusion in a show entitled “Wind Water Paper” to be exhibited in August 2022.

Using water as a vehicle – snow from Wisconsin and seawater from Hawaii – we explored the idea of contact: contact between water and paper, ink and water, press and plate, the two of us in our respective environments, and the two of us in contact with each other. Relying on emerging technology in combination with traditional printmaking techniques, we navigated how our isolation and environment impacted our collaborative creativity.
